Fresno State had 16 riders finish in the top five in the six western classes.

FRESNO, Calif. -
The equestrian team finished the first day of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) competition at Bakersfield College today. The Western team was victorious over the seven region 1 schools participating in the show. Fresno State finished with 21 points which allows the team to maintain its lead in the American Quarter Horse Association standings with 120 points.
Host Bakersfield College placed second in the show with 18 points, Cal Poly had eight points, UC Davis and Nevada had two each. Stanford and Reedley College both were unable to earn any points today.
The English team will compete Sunday Feb. 3.
Four riders competed well today as they took placed high in two classes each:
*Senior Kendra McQueen (Bakersfield Calif.) placed first in Open Stock Seat and fifth in Reining.
*Junior Jennifer Levenfeld (Hollister, Calif.) placed second in Open Stock Seat and third in Reining.
*Junior Jackie Myers (Clovis, Calif.) placed second in Reining and four in Open Stock Seat.
*Sophomore Jessica Frazier (Lovelock, Nev.) placed fourth in Reining and Sixth in Open Stock Seat.
