FRESNO, Calif. - Senior English rider Kimberly HewsonBudnik competed in Equitation over Fences for the Collegiate Equitation Challenge at the Winter Equestrian Festival this Friday. HewsonBudnik had some standout rides propelling her to an overall third place finish.

"It means a lot to me to bring home such a good ribbon from such a prestigious horse show," said HewsonBudnik. "There were some very well known and extremely talented riders in this competition and I am happy with how I managed to hold my own represent Fresno State so well."

This was HewsonBudnik's third appearance at the WEF and she advanced to the final round after scoring an 84 in the preliminary round. In the final round she scored an 86, falling to her opponent SMU's Schaefer Raposa who scored an 89 and also ended up winning the Challenge.

"I couldn't have asked for any more support from my teammates even from so far away," said HewsonBudnik. "I am proud to be a bulldog and even more proud to be part of an amazing equestrian team."

Next up, the Fresno State equestrian team will travel to Fort Worth, Texas to compete against Texas Christian University and Oklahoma State University on Feb. 15 and 16.
