Dogs Jump to Victory at SMU
Feb. 12, 2011
FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs are making their mark in the south this weekend. After a successful trip to Florida to compete in the Winter Equestrian Festival, the Dogs took on the SMU Mustangs this afternoon in Texas. The Mustangs do not have a varsity Western team, so only the English Bulldogs competed today. The score was tied 3-3 in Equitation on the Flat, and then the Bulldogs jumped to victory in Equitation Over Fences to achieve a 7-4 win over the Mustangs.
"All of the ladies rode great today and showed how well they can handle different horses on the road," said head English coach Julia Scrivani. "I am very proud of all of them."
Junior Nicole Roworth shined in her first head to head match in Equitation Over Fences. Roworth received a high score of 81 and earned MVP honors in the event.
"Nicole rode great today," said Scrivani. "She really stepped up in this new role and she did awesome."
