SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.- The equestrian team came in full stride this past weekend by capturing the High Point Championship title with 48 points. This is the highest point earnings ever for the equestrian. "This is such a great feeling for us," head coach Megan McGee said. The Bulldogs have one more show to go, but coach McGee believes that Fresno State has captured the championship title for their region.
Individually, 15 riders qualified for regional finals, Michelle Tonello qualified in Open Fences, Dawn McIntosh in Intermediate Fences and Open Fences, Michaela Mathis in Intermediate Fences, Amanda Hancock in Novice Fences and Intermediate Flat, Emily Brown in Novice Flat, Amy Reed in Advanced Walk/Trot and Intermediate Stock Seat, Liz Willey in Beginning Walk/Trot, Amanda Smith in Novice Equitation on Flat, Danielle Golden in Advanced Walk/Trot, Taylor Masonin Reining, Nicole Rogers in Walk/Jog, Kristie Rogers in Intermediate Western, Dana Van Der Geissen in Advanced Stock Seat in Equitation, Katie Geyer in Advanced Stock Seat and Lisa McPeters in Intermediate Stock Seat in Equitation.
Sophomore Leyla Mundy grabbed the individual English High Point Championship title for the entire tournament. With two first place finishes in Novice Fences and Novice Flat.
The 'Dogs next action will be Sun., March 9 at Cal Poly for an English/Western Show.
