    FRESNO, Calif. - After a long weekend of jumping, sliding, and equitating, the Bulldogs finished their fifth annual Best in the West Tournament in second place. The Dogs invited all top ranked teams to the tournament this year and the Student Horse Center arenas were filled with great competition all weekend. No. 8 Baylor won the tournament, with the No. 9 Bulldogs in second place, followed by No. 6 University of South Carolina in third and No. 5 TCU in fourth.

    The Bulldogs swept Equitation Over Fences today by earning all three of the points possible for the event. Freshman Hillary West earned her first MVP honors in Equitation Over Fences with a high score of 80. Junior Holly Elsbernd earned her third point in a row in Equitation Over Fences with a score of 72 which made her undefeated for the weekend.

    Sophomore Lisa Beach earned the second highest score of the day in Equitation on the Flat with an 82, but she fell by just three points to University of South Carolina's Colvin Hedgepath. Senior Kelsi Fischer earned the second highest score in Horsemanship witha 68.5 and won her point against the Game Cocks.

    Freshman Sonya Koch continued to prove her strength as a freshman when she earned her third win in a row in the Reining event with a score of 70 which also made her undefeated for the weekend.

    Next up the Bulldogs will head to Martin, Tennessee to take on UTM on March 12. The final home competition for the Dogs will be on March 26 when they take on No. 1 Texas A&M at the Student Horse Center.
