FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State equestrian team defeated the No. 8 New Mexico State Aggies, 9-7, concluding its weekend of competition in Las Cruces, N.M. Freshman Macy Wilson and Ciara Kozlowski earned MVP honors in their respective events, helping lead to 'Dogs to victory.

"We took what we learned from yesterday's competition and put it to good use today," said head Hunt Seat coach Julia Scrivani. "The team took the time to focus on some improvements in their riding and with that focus we were very successful. The coaching staff was very happy with the team's performance today."

The Bulldogs tied the Aggies, 2-2, in Equitation on the Flat. Kimberly HewsonBudnik and Wilson (MVP) each picked up a win, both scoring an 84. Fresno State won in the raw score for this event, 317-311.

In Equitation over Fences, senior Nicole Roworth was the only Bulldog to earn a point. She scored a 69 in the event defeating her opponent by nine points.

In Horsemanship, Fresno State won 3-1. Lauren Crivelli (76), Sammie Jo Stone (74.5), and Allie Warkentin (73.5) each picked up wins in the event.

In Reining, Fresno State also defeated the Aggies 3-1. Sonya Koch (70.5), Sydney Coletti (70), and Ciara Kozlowski (72 - MVP) all earned a point in this event.

The Bulldogs defeated the Aggies 9-7 as well in the raw score 1189-1114.5. This was the final competition of the weekend, and now the Bulldogs will return home to prepare for the National Championships in April.
