FRESNO, Calif. -- The Fresno State equestrian team defeated the New Mexico State Aggies 9-7, Saturday afternoon to conclude the Skyhawk Tournament in Martin, Tenn. The 'Dogs went 1-1 on the weekend, after falling to the University of Tennessee Martin in a close match Friday that came down to the raw scores following an 8-8 tie.
In the English events, the Bulldogs tied 4-4 picking up two points in each event. On the Flat sophomore Macy Wilson earned her second point of the tournament scoring a 172 and senior Kimberly HewsonBudnik earned her third point of the weekend scoring a 149.
In the Western events, Fresno State defeated NMSU 5-3. In Horsemanship freshman Sydney Elliott scored a 139 earning her first point of the season. Lauren Crivelli also earned a point with her score of 148.5.
These two matches were the final of the Bulldogs regular season competition. The National Collegiate Equestrian Association national championships will be held in Waco, Texas this year from April 18-20 where the top twelve teams in the nation attend.
