FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs put up a tough fight in Fresno today as they competed against the No.1 ranked team in the nation. Fresno State hosted the Aggies from Texas A&M and after winning the English events and earning two MVP honors, the Dogs fell 11-8.

The Equitation Over Fences event was held outside in the rainy weather and freshman Hillary West and junior Kimberly Hewson Budnik both won points for the Bulldogs. West was named MVP for the event. This is her second MVP during her freshman year as a Dog.

The Equitation on the Flat was held in the Pavilion and the sophomore Lauren Carr, Lisa Beach, and junior Jessica Kissell all earned wins for the Bulldogs and all had scores above 80. The English team defeated the Aggies 5-4.

The Western Horsemanship was the toughest event for the Bulldogs. The Aggies swept the event by winning all five possible points. Freshman Rio Haack and junior Sammie Jo Stone were only edged by one point.

The Reining closed out the competition and the Dogs earned three points in this event. Senior Jillian Tebbe, sophomore Kelley Holcomb, and freshman Sonya Koch all earned points for the Bulldogs. Freshman Whitney Kittle was selected as the MVP for this event.

The Bulldogs also recognized seven seniors during their final home event. Jillian Tebbe, Kelsi Fischer, Madison Silver, Elizabeth Thomasian, Sydney Grau, Caitlin Marshall, and Andrea Prise will all be saying farewell to the equestrian team after this year.
