    FRESNO, Calif. --

The Fresno State Equestrian team hosted an intersquad scrimmage Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Fresno State Horse Center.

The team separated into two teams, Red vs. Blue, and competed in English Equitation on the Flat and Equitation over Fences as well as Western Horsemanship and Reining.

    Blue defeated Red 11-8.

"I thought it was a great day and it ran smoothly," head coach Collins Daye said. "We were able to give everyone an opportunity to show us what they do in competition."

In English, Hannah Flammang received MVP in Equitation on the Flat, which is her first ever MVP honor. Macy Wilson received her first ever Equitation over Fences MVP producing her fifth total MVP.

In Western, freshman Sydney Elliot performed well in Horsemanship and Rio Haack had a solid performance too.

"I hope we take what we learn from today's scrimmage and perfect the things that weren't so great and build on the things that we did really well in," Daye said. "Hopefully we'll be really competitive starting next semester."

The Bulldogs saddle up for their first season competition in Dallas, Texas on Nov. 8 against SMU.
