No. 10 Bulldogs Win Final Fall Event

FRESNO, Calif. - In the last competition of the fall season the Bulldogs English team defeated Stanford's English team 9-4 and earned two MVP honors. "I'm very happy with the performance the team turned out today," said co-head coach Julia Scrivani. "The girls have been working hard to stay focused on being consistent in rhythm and show their equitation skills. We worked as a team to be consistent in scoring as well, it was a great day." Senior Kimberly Steinbuch (Equitation on the Flat) and sophomore Belle Calkin (Equitation over Fences) performed the strongest rides at Saturday's competition each earning an MVP honor. "Belle Calkin and Kimberly Steinbuch did a great job today out-riding their competition," said Scrivani. In Equitation on the Flat, Hannah Flammang (72), Nicole Roworth (84), Tara Polkabla (81), and Macy Wilson (86) all picked up a win along with MVP Steinbuch (86) in a dominate 5-1 victory in the event. In Equitation over Fences, Hillary West (84), Chelsie Stone (65), and Dayle Fischer (54) along with MVP Calkin snuck past Stanford 4-3 in the event.
For the English competition the Bulldogs raw score was 945 to the Cardinal score, 856.
The Fresno State Western team scrimmaged themselves during the English competition. The White team defeated the Red team 4-3, recording a very close raw score of 495.5-495.
Whitney Kittle (Horsemanship) and Sydney Coletti (Reining) were the MVPs for the Western scrimmage. Today's competition concluded the equestrian team's fall season and will be off until they return from winter break for a team scrimmage on Jan. 28, 2012 at the Fresno State Student Horse Center.
