FRESNO, Calif.- Horses in Riverpark? That's right; the Fresno State Equestrian Team will be bringing out some horses to Riverpark to showcase some of their riders.

Members of the Bulldog Equestrian team will be signing autographs and meeting fans at the Entertainment Plaza in Riverpark on Saturday, Jan. 26 from 1-2:30pm. About 30 members of the team and head coach, Becky Malmo will be giving riding demonstrations.

This season, the Bulldogs are off to a good start winning their first home match October 27th against the SMU Mustangs, 10-2.

Last season, both the English and Western teams were ranked in the nation's Top 12. The teams competed in the Varsity Equestrian National Championships in Waco, Texas. The Bulldog English team finished seventh overall.

Up next for the Bulldogs is the Best of the West Tournament at the Student Horse Center on campus February 16.

Some of the top riders to watch for this year are captains Kirsten Sohns, Katie Nenneker, Marybeth Brown and Rebecca Flood.

Seniors Cambria Kissell and Sara Barnes are also having strong seasons.

Coach Becky Malmo is in her fourth season with the Bulldogs. As a world class rider, Malmo placed in the top five and top 10 in four events at the 2004 World Championships Paint Horse Show in Fort Worth, Texas.
