No. 8 TCU: The TCU Horned Frogs have a compiled a season record of 4-3 as they head into the competition on Friday against Fresno State. They have recorded wins over SMU, Baylor, Oklahoma State and New Mexico State.
No. 3 Oklahoma State: The Cowgirls are 6-3 on the season and are coming off a four match win streak entering the competition against the Bulldogs. Their most recent wins came against Texas A&M, Tennessee-Martin, Delaware State and Kansas State.
HewsonBudnik Takes Third
Senior English rider Kimberly HewsonBudnik competed in Equitation over Fences for the Collegiate Equitation Challenge at the Winter Equestrian Festival Friday, Feb. 8. HewsonBudnik had some standout rides propelling her to an overall third place finish out of 16 of the finest collegiate riders.
Wilson Named Sysco Student-Athlete of the Week
Sophomore Macy Wilson went two for two in her match-ups in the double header versus No. 2 Auburn and No. 6 Kansas State. In the morning match against Auburn, Wilson earned her first Most Outstanding Player award of the season for her competitive ride in Equitation on the Flat. She scored a 75 defeating her Auburn opponent by 20 points. In the afternoon match against Kansas State, Wilson won her point again on the Flat with a score of 77.
Wilson, Kozlowski Earn MOP Honors
In the Bulldogs double header on Friday, Feb. 1 the 'Dogs were neck-and-neck with the Auburn Tigers, but fell short 7-8 in a close match. In the afternoon match the Bulldogs fell to the Kansas State Wildcats 12-4. Macy Wilson and Ciara Kozlowski each earned Most Outstanding Player honors for their performances against Auburn.
Madrazo Earns MVP Honor Against Georgia
In the first home competition of 2013 the Fresno State Bulldogs fell to the Georgia Bulldogs, 12-4 on Saturday afternoon. In Equitation on the Flat, senior Lanie Madrazo led the way winning the MVP honor for the event with a score of 78. Also winning her point on the Flat was Macy Wilson scoring a 70. In Horsemanship Kirsten McKillop won her point with a 75.5 and in Reining, Lauren Crivelli won her point and recorded the highest event score of 74.
Eric Hubbard: New Western Coach
Head coach Collins Daye announced the hiring of the new Western coach, Eric Hubbard, at the beginning of the New Year. Hubbard grew up riding horses on his family's small farm in Idaho and has had a passion for the horse industry ever since. He brings knowledge from his extensive collegiate riding and coaching experience as well as knowledge from being a professional horse trainer for years. Crivelli Finishes Third
In November junior Western rider Lauren Crivelli had to opportunity to compete at the inaugural Collegiate Horsemanship Challenge at the American Quarter Horse Association World Show in Oklahoma, Okla. Sixteen of the nation's top collegiate horsemanship riders were invited to compete at the AQHA World Show. Crivelli made it to the semifinals scoring a 144 good for a third place finish.
