FRESNO, Calif. --The Fresno State equestrian team will host No. 2 Baylor and Southern Methodist University on its home dirt in a tournament this Friday and Saturday. Also, the senior Bulldogs will be honored at the end of the match on Saturday afternoon.

"The girls have been working really hard since returning from the holiday break with the goal of winning this week," interim head coach Eric Hubbard said.

Fresno State has not competed since November, and this weekend's tournament is the only home competition of the season.

"This is a big competition for us," Hubbard said. "Baylor is ranked very high, but we are comfortable competing at home."

Hubbard said the riders feel prepared.

"The weather has been nice, allowing us to get back into the arena and really focus on riding strong this weekend," he said.

In addition to the competition, eight seniors will be honored: Belle Calkin, Dayle Fischer, Hannah Flammang, Rio Haack, Whitney Kittle, Sonya Koch, Chelsie Stone and Shauna Woodward.

Competition will begin at 10 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday at the Student Horse Center on the Fresno State campus.
