FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State senior Equitation over Fences captain, Holly Elsbernd, earned the Reserve Champion title at the 2nd Annual Pin Oak Invitational Saturday evening.

"The coaching staff is very proud of the performance Holly gave today," said head Hunt Seat coach Julia Scrivani. "She rode every step on each horse to get into the finals to score a high of 80. We practice for the unknown as well as the best rides and Holly had both of those experiences today."

The Equitation over Fences competition was the main event at the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show in Houston, Texas. Elsbernd competed in the first round Saturday evening against Rice's Dana Ross defeating her with a score of 65 to Ross' 0.

In the second round, Elsbernd rode "Dare to Imagine" scoring a 60, defeating South Dakota's rider's score of 55. In the final round Elsbernd rode "Cardigan Nior" scoring an 80, but fell to the rider from Texas A&M who scored an 82. Elsbernd was named the Reserve Champion of the 2nd Annual Pin Oak Invitational.

Bulldog senior Elsbernd will now prepare to compete with her teammates in the National Championships April 12-14, 2012 in Waco, Texas.
