'Dogs Begin Season with Red and Blue Scrimmage Saturday

FRESNO, Calif.-- The Fresno State equestrian team will kick off its 2014-15 season this Saturday with an inter-squad scrimmage on its home dirt. The first ride will begin at 11 a.m. This marks the beginning of a season filled with several home events.

The `Dogs first hit the road to Waco, Texas on Sept. 26 to challenge Baylor University and University of Tennessee-Martin. On Sept. 27, they will compete against Southern Methodist University for their conference opener.

The team then heads to Las Cruses, N.M. for another conference competition against New Mexico State on Oct. 17. The weekend will conclude with a rematch against UT-Martin.

Fresno State will return home for the month of November. The `Dogs will host University of South Carolina for their home opener on Nov. 7. Then, on Nov. 21-22, they will challenge Kansas State and Auburn University for their final match of 2014.

The `Dogs will begin 2015 with another inter-squad scrimmage at home on Jan. 31. They then head to Brookings, S.D. on Feb. 20-21 to take on conference-member South Dakota State University and Minnesota-Crookston.

The team will wrap on the regular season in its home arena against Georgia and Texas Christian University on March 6-7.

Fresno State will host the 2015 Independent Conference Championship on March 27-28 in a tournament with Southern Methodist University, New Mexico State and South Dakota State.

If the `Dogs prevail, their season will end with the 2015 NCEA National Championship in Waco, Texas in April.
