    FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldog equestrian team opens the 2009-10 season on Saturday, Sept. 26, against WAC rival New Mexico State. The Dogs and Aggies are the only two WAC schools that sponsor equestrian.

    Bulldog Barnyard Bash
    After the Fresno State equestrian teams opens the 2009-10 season next Saturday, Sept. 26 against New Mexico State, Bulldog fans will have the chance to kick back country style at the Bulldog Barnyard Bash in the Animal Science Pavilion. The evening runs from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. highlighted by some of Fresno State's best food and entertainment. "This will be a fun night," head equestrian coach Becky Malmo said of the kickoff special. "We are looking forward to kicking up our boots for an exciting night of dancing, music and food as a great way to end our first day of competition this year." In country casual attire, Dr. Malmo and her team will host the Red Wave for a buffet barbeque buffet including the tasty trip-trip, pulled pork and chicken. A beer and wine host bar will also be open. A roping instruction and a fun night of dancing are on the slate with music provided by the Sierra Cowboy Riders. The Bash also includes a silent and live auction. Tickets to the Bulldog Barnyard Bash are $55 per person and reserved seating is available for $500 per table of 10. Fans can also sponsor the 42 team members at $15 per student-athlete. All proceeds will fund the 2009-10 Saddle Club project to purchase and electronic scoreboard for the Student Horse Center. The Animal Science Pavilion is located on campus at 2708 E. Barstow Avenue, north of Woodrow.

    Before the Sept. 26 season opener, Bulldog fans can watch the early rising sun and support the team with a hot breakfast at the Student Horse Center. The breakfast will include pancakes, sausages, fruit and coffee and starts at 7 a.m.

    Great Day and Sunrise for the Dogs
    To kick off the season opening event for the Bulldogs, two local television shows will be showcasing the Fresno State equestrian team this week. On Wednesday morning, the NBC KSEE 24 "Sunrise" show will be out at the Student Horse Center interviewing coaches and student-athletes. Host Pamela Prado will be on site to get an up close and personal look at the Bulldog program from 5 to 7 a.m. The Sunrise show precedes the NBC Today Show. On Friday, the KMPH Fox 26 "Great Day" program will broadcast live from campus beginning at 5 a.m. Host Clayton Clark will be talking with coaches, student-athletes and others. The "Great Day" show airs from 5-10 a.m. weekdays.

    "We Are Your Team" -- Join the Fresno State equestrian team for their season opening event Saturday, Sept. 26, against New Mexico State at 8 a.m. The event will be held at the Student Horse Center on campus and admission is free.
