FRESNO, Calif.--Senior rider Belle Calkin does much more than compete for the `Dogs. Calkin rides in medal finals all over the country. Her latest: the United States Equestrian Foundation Los Angeles International Jumping Festival Medal Finals for zones eight, nine and ten where she placed fourth.

The competition took place at the Los Angelese Equestrian Center in Calkin's hometown of Burbank, Calif. She enjoyed the luxury of riding on her own horse in front of friends, family and personal trainers.

"I really liked this competition," Calkin said. "I do medal finals all the time, so it was really exciting to progress on my horse."

This competition is an invitational. To qualify, riders must ride in classes throughout the year and place first or second.

Calkin competed in two rounds against 13 girls before jumping in the championship round. She placed fourth overall.

"I was really happy with it," Calkin said. "The courses were really fun, and my horse did really well."

Last year, Calkin took first place at the Los Angeles Hunter Jumper Association Medal Finals. She recently took second place at the Foxfield Medal Finals in her age group of 18 to 35-year-olds. Her goal is to do just as well in her competithis this year as last year.

Her next competition is in November. Calkin said this competition is bigger and harder.

You can watch Calkin ride at home in February, as the `Dogs take on SMU and Baylor.
