    FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State is sitting in good shape heading into a much-needed break, ranked No. 8 in most recent national coaches poll released Tuesday. The Bulldogs moved up one spot from the previous poll.

    Although the Auburn Tigers haven't completed since Oct. 18, they remained the No. 1 team in the National Coaches Equestrian Poll. Auburn returns to action Jan. 24, 2009 with a home match against Delaware State.

    The Tigers are undefeated this season have wins over No. 8 Fresno State, No. 7 South Carolina and No. 3 Georgia.

    All equestrian teams are on a break until January and the national coaches poll will return Feb. 10, 2009.

    Texas A&M remains a distant second place in the poll, 13 points behind Auburn. The Aggies, Georgia and Baylor, ranked 2 through 4 in the polls, are separated by less than 10 points.

    Oklahoma State sits in fifth place with 42 points, four points behind the Bears.

    TCU remains in the sixth place for the third straight poll with 34 points, followed closely by South Carolina with 31 points. Fresno State recorded 25 points this week to move past Kansas State into eighth place, seven points ahead of the Wildcats.

    New Mexico State received nine points and remains ranked No. 10 in the poll.

    The collegiate coaches competing under the Varsity Equestrian Championship umbrella initiated the national poll. The poll will be released bi-monthly with the next announcement scheduled for Feb. 10, 2009. The final poll of the season will be released April 21, 2009.
