Ly Leads 'Dogs After Day One

    STANFORD, Calif. -- The Fresno State women's golf team teed off their spring season on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Peg Barnard Invitational led by junior Madchen Ly.

    Ly fired three-over par, 74 to finish day one in a tie for 17th place. Ly made four birdies and sits five strokes behind the tournament leader.

    "A strong start for Madchen and I'm excited to see her excel and move up the leaderboard in the final round," head coach Emily Milberger said.

    Dana Finkelstein of UNLV leads the tournament at two-under par, 69.

    The Bulldogs finished the tournament in 14th place at 25-over par, 309.

    "We unfortunately got off to a slow start today, but I am really proud of how strong we played the finishing holes," Milberger said. "The momentum from the ends of our round will definitely give us momentum as we head into tomorrow's round."
