FRESNO, Calif. - The second day of the 2009 UNLV Spring Invitational is now on the books and the Bulldogs are poised to climb the leader board going into Round 3.
Fresno State sits in 13th place after shooting two rounds of competition. The Bulldogs have a 36-hole total of 627 (+51) after Tuesday's 16-over finish. Lindi Covarrubias and Taylor Siebert are tied for the Bulldog's top spot with after shooting 1-over and 3-over par, respectively.
The host team leads the 18-team field with a team total of 595, 5-under par. Natalie Gleadall of Nebraska, Marta Silva of Georgia and Ulrika van Niekerk of Texas Tech are tied for the top spot. The trio each have a two-round total of 144.
Covarrubias shot a team-best 1-over in the second round, picking up three birdies. The junior jumped eight spots from 39th to finish the day tied with Siebert at 31st .
Hali Coppin also shot 3-over on Tuesday, to leap from 63rd to 48th to total a 158 (+14). Louisa Lies carded a 162 over 36 holes and sits at 73rd. The final Bulldog competitor, Chelsea Czinski, posted 86 (+14) in the second round to score a total of 168.
The final round shoots off at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday with tee times off holes 1 and 10.
