KAPALUA, Hawai'i -- Playing in a field that included No. 10 ranked Washington and No. 15 ranked Pepperdine, the Fresno State Women's golf team shot the second best round of the day, 296 to finish the tournament in eighth place.

"Today was a great finish by our team," head coach Emily Milberger said. "We definitely worked hard this round and it was very exciting to move up in the final round."

Playing in tough weather conditions due to strong winds, four of five players in the Bulldog lineup carded their best round of the tournament to assist the Bulldogs in their top-ten finish among a field of 15 teams.

Counting the score of 54-hole tournaments, the Bulldogs recorded their second-lowest total score of the season at 46-over par, 910 (308-306-296).

Competing among a field of seven, top-100 ranked players, Junior Madchen Ly continued to lead the Bulldogs in round three with a score of even par, 72 to give her an impressive top-five finish. Overall, Ly made eight birdies to record two-over par, 218 (74-72-72). Ly took fifth place among a field of 88-players.

"I'm very satisfied with my three rounds," Ly said. "The conditions were very rough all three days and the field had many good teams with ranked players. Coming off my home tournament, I had more confidence this week."

Freshman Guðrún Brá Björgvinsdóttir shot the third best score of the day carding a two-under, 70. On the tournament, Björgvinsdóttir made 11 birdies to finish in 13th place at seven-over par, 223 (74-79-70).

"Excellent rounds today by Gudrun and Madchen and especially a great performance by Madchen all week," Milberger said. "She is on track for an exciting finish this spring."

"I'm very proud of our team performance," Ly said. "We improved each day and we'll have a couple weeks of good practice and then off to Napa."
