Women's Golf Holds onto Ninth

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's golf team finished the Anuenue Spring Break Classic right where they began the day, in ninth place out of 14 teams. The Bulldogs shot a final round 32-over, 320 to finish at 79-over (315-308-320--943).

Louisa Lies, a senior from Weinheim, Germany, recorded her fifth top 20 finish of the season by tying for 18th at 11-over. During the final round, Lies shot a final round 4-over, 76 to move up five positions from the previous day.

"Louisa had a very good showing in a great field of players," head coach Angie Cates-Moore said. "The trade winds were very strong and her solid ball striking helped her manage the wind."

Freshman Madchen Ly carded a 5-over, 77, her lowest round of the tournament, to move into a tie for 38th at 19-over.

Christine Uhalde and Shaylee Yano finished in a tie for 44th and 58th, respectively, while Alison Timlin stayed in 77th place.

No. 14 Colorado held onto the lead by two strokes over No. 15 California to take home the team title. No. 55 Daniela Holmqvist of Cal claimed the individual title with a 2-under par, four shots ahead of Pepperdine's Alina Ching.

"We Are Your Team!" - The Bulldogs return to action April 16-17 to compete in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate held at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links in Half Moon Bay, Calif.
