FRESNO, Calif.-After completing two rounds of play, the Fresno women's golf is in second place at the 2009 Cowgirl Classic. The `Dogs shot a first round total of 303 and saddled up for the second round of play where they shot a 306 to finish the day among the leaders.
Northern Arizona leads the field after compiling a team total of 605. Fresno State is four strokes out of first. In third is Sacramento State with a total of 621.
"We know we have sum low rounds in us, said head coach Angie Cates-Moore. "We are in good position and we really haven't played our best golf yet. Tomorrow should be a fun day."
Louisa Lies and Hali Coppin lead the pack both shooting still solid total of 7-over par 151 and tying for fifth place. Both are five strokes behind the individual leader, Northern Arizona's Bethany Leclair. Leclair shot a second round total of 69 to move up the board on hold on to first to end the day.
Tied for 16th, Taylor Siebert and Chelsea Czinski, carded totals of 155/+11. Czinski shoot rounds of 74 and 81 and Siebert posted rounds of 77 and 78, respectively. Lindi Covarrubias finished the day tied for 21st and one stroke back of teammate Siebert and Czinski. Covarrubias compiled to 78's and finished 12-over for the day.
The 54-hole tournament concludes with 18 holes on April 7. with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
