Ly Tees Off NCAA West Regional

FRESNO, Calif. -- Madchen Ly competed in day one of the NCAA West Regional to finish the day in a tie for 24th place.

Competing in her first NCAA championships, the junior made three birdies on the day to fire two-over par, 74.

"Really solid start for Madchen," head coach Emily Milberger said. "She was really hitting the ball well and gave herself some good opportunities out there. Definitely looking forward to two more rounds. She has a good strategy right now and good momentum going into the finishing rounds of this tournament."

Among the 126-player field are 24 teams and six individuals.

The NCAA West Regional Championship will be hosted by University of Washington and will be held at Tumble Creek Club at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Washington.
