FRESNO, Calif. -The Fresno State women's golf team completed their first tournament of the 2012-13 season on Tuesday. The Bulldogs tied with Colorado State for an 11th place finish out of 17 teams.

Although it was a rough day for the Bulldogs, who ended with a final tournament score of 53 over par (306-299-312-917), freshman Hannah Sodersten finished in the top 25. Sodersten shot 10 over par (74-76-76-226) and tied for 24th place.

Sodersten made birdies on holes two and ten today with a total of 5 birdies for the tournament.

"Hannah had a solid start to her collegiate career," head coach Angie Cates-Moore said.

Madchen Ly finished with a tie for 30th place and shot 11 over par. Ly also made two birdies at hole two and 12.

Christine Uhalde finished with a tie for 39th place and shot 13 over par. Uhalde led the `Dogs with three birdies today on holes two, four and nine. Her best round of the weekend was on Monday during round two when she shot one under par at 71.

Although the `Dogs were not as successful as they hoped in the two-day Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic, they learned from their mistakes and hope to improve before their next tournament.

"Overall as a team, I saw a lot of wasted shots out there today," Cates-Moore said. "We definitely had some course management issues this week, which is pretty typical if you haven't been competing in a while."

The `Dogs have a little more than three weeks to prepare for the October 8-10th Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational hosted by University of Washington.

The Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational is played at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash. The Sahalee Country Club hosted the PGA championship in 1998 and is very challenging golf course.

"I doubt our golf team has ever seen a golf course like this, so it is going to be very demanding and we are going to have to work really hard to make sure we are prepared," Cates-Moore said.
