The pair carded three-over par on the day to sit in a six-way tie for 19th place. Ly and Sodersten each made four birdies over the first two rounds of play.
After shooting 72 in round one to put Ly in a tie for fifth, she slipped back to record five-over par in round two for a total score of 149 on the day. Sodersten caught up with her teammate in round two as she moved up the leaderboard from her round one tie for 35th place to also card a 149 (76-73) on the day.
"I'm excited for Hannah and Madchen," Milberger said. "They've both put themselves in a good position for a strong finish tomorrow."
On the day, the Bulldogs fired 34-over par, 618 (306-312) to sit in 12th place.
"Today was a good day," head coach Emily Milberger said. "The ladies started strong this morning and we had some great highlights out there today."
The two-day tournament will continue on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the University of New Mexico's Championship Course. Round three will tee off at 7 a.m. PT with a shotgun start.
"We are looking forward to using our knowledge from these two rounds to go low tomorrow," Milberger said.
