Dogs Improve at Upland Cup

FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldog women's golf team shot one of the best rounds of the day and improved two places at the Washington State Inland Cup played at Palouse Ridge in Pullman, Wash.
The Dogs put together a round of 306, 17 strokes better than their score on Monday, and are tied for seventh place with Montana.
The Bulldogs are two strokes behind Oregon State and five behind host Washington State for fifth place. Idaho leads the tournament with a two-round total of 601.
Fresno State entered the day in ninth place overall. Only three teams - Idaho, Sacramento State and Washington State - shot better rounds on Tuesday. The tournament concludes on Wednesday with 18-holes.
Leading the Dogs was Lindi Covarrubias who improved from 18th place to a tie for seventh after an even par round of 72. It was the third-best round of the day by any player. She had four birdies and 10 pars on her round.
Hali Coppin remained tied for 18th and shot a 77, two strokes better than her Monday score.
Shaylee Yano had a round of 80, six shots better than her first round. The Bulldogs conclude the tournament on Wednesday and play with Montana beginning at 8 a.m.
