'Dogs Finish Play In Colorado

    FRESNO, Calif. - The final day of the 2010 Heather Farr/University of Colorado Memorial Tournament is now complete and the Bulldogs finished in third place out of the 11 teams competing. Fresno State shot a 313 in round three today which put their total tournament score at 916. They were only 23 points away from the number one team, University of Colorado.

    "It was very windy all day today," head coach Angie Cates-Moore commented about the day. "The course was very tough."

    Junior Louisa Lies, who was in first place at the end of the first two rounds, concluded the tournament in third place with a final score of 222. She lead the tournament with ten birdies. Lies score was only two points shy of the number one player, Jessica Wallace, from University of Colorado.

    "We had two players finish in the top four at this tournament," said Cates-Moore. "having two players finish that high is a great step in the right direction for us."

    Sophomore Krysta Clark shined in the stormy weather this weekend and finished the tournament tied for fourth place and only 21 puts. Clark was second in the tournament with nine birdies, just one behind her teammate. Today was Clark's best finish of her career and her lowest round, a 71.

    "Krysta is one of those players who works hard and is very coachable," Cates-Moore stated about the sophomore's performance. "We are all so happy for her that she shot under par. Everything came together for her today. She played a great round in difficult conditions."

    The rest of the Bulldogs played tough in the windy weather to keep the team in third place. The `Dogs will return to Fresno this evening and have a couple of weeks to practice before their next tournament in Santa Clara on October 25.
