PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- Competing in the two-day Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate, sophomore Hannah Sodersten and junior Madchen Lymoved up the leaderboard to finish in the top-ten of the 108-player field.
"Excellent finishes by Hannah and Madchen," head coach Emily Milbergersaid. "They are both making solid strides in their game and its great to see them both clinch a top-ten finish."
Sodersten fired eight-over par, 224 (79-73-72) to move from her tie for 18th place to finish in a tie for seventh place. On the day, Sodersten recorded her best score of the tournament to card even par, seven strokes less than her round one score.
Ly trailed Sodersten by two strokes to finish in 10th place at nine-over par, 225 (76-77-72). On the day, Ly also recorded her best score of the tournament to shot even par, which moved her from her day one tie for 22nd place into the top-ten.
The duo led the Bulldogs over 54-holes of play to pull the 'Dogs into the top-ten of the 20-team field. On the day, the Bulldogs recorded their best score of the tournament to move four positions up on the leaderboard.
The 'Dogs posted a total score of 59-over par, 923 (316, 306, 301).
"We had a strong finish that we've been looking for today, " Milberger said. "I'm proud of the way the ladies finished this event. Always exciting to set a new low round for the season!"
The Bulldogs will conclude their fall season on Oct. 27-29 at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in Las Vegas, Nev.
