Fresno, Calif. --The Fresno State women's golf team took first place in its third tournament of the fall season. Along with a team victory, the Bulldogs made a tournament record with a total score of 885 (291-289-305).

The 'Dogs shot 21 over par and beat the previous tournament record held by San Diego State.

As the Bulldogs played in the second day of the Wyoming hosted Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate, they kept their day one position of first place.

"This team has worked really hard and to get a win today is outstanding," head coach Angie Cates-Moore said. "Anytime you win a golf tournament it is a very big deal because you are not just competing between one other team or one individual. There were 19 teams and 104 individuals on the field this weekend, so winning this golf tournament is a very big deal and a huge accomplishment for our team."

The 'Dogs played 54 holes during the two-day tournament at Classic Club in Palm Springs, Calif.

Madchen Ly and Christine Uhalde medaled in the top three of the 104-player tournament.

Ly made five birdies today and shot two under par for a second place finish. She completed the tournament with a total score of 217 (70-77-70).

"Madchen played great today," Cates-Moore said. "She really played solid all week."

Uhlade had a third place finish and shot two over par with a total score of 218 (71-69-78).

Hannah Sodersten made a top five finish and shot six over par (75-71-76--222). Sodersten finished in a tie for fifth place.

"To have three out of five players finish in the top five is really great to see," Cates-Moore said. "They all deserve credit for their hard work and determination this season and I am very happy for our entire team."

Shaylee Yano finished in the top 25. Yano shot 12 over par (75-72-81--228) and tied for 21st place.

Taylor Wilkinson closed the lineup and finished in a tie for 67th place. Wilkinson shot 26 over par for a total score of 242 (79-80-83).

Bulldog Krysta Clark competed as an individual and tied for 27th place. Clark shot 14 over par with a total score of 230 (75-78-77).

"Our confidence is high and our belief in each other is where it needs to be as we finish the fall season," Cates-Moore said.

The Bulldogs face their last tournament of the fall season on Oct. 21 in Las Vegas, Nev. for the three-day Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
