LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Fresno State women's golf team concluded the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown on Tuesday, Oct. 29 to record their lowest round of the season led by junior Madchen Ly.
The 'Dogs topped their round one score to card their lowest round of the season. The Bulldogs finished the tournament in 14th place at 23-over par, 599 (300-299).
Although day two of the tournament was cancelled due to high winds, the 17-team field teed off day three to finish the 36-hole tournament at the Stallion Mountain Golf Club.
"I am really proud of the ladies this week as we closed out the fall with our two lowest rounds of the season," Milberger said.
Competing among a field of 96 players, Ly ended the fall season with her third top-20 finish. Following her day one performance, Ly moved 23 positions up the leaderboard to record a tie for 20th place at three-over par. Over two days of competition, Ly fired 147 (75-72).
"Madchen had another strong showing ending her fall with a top-20 finish," head coach Emily Milberger said.
With the conclusion of the fall season, the Bulldogs will begin preparing for the spring season.
"I am looking forward to a productive off-season as we have some great momentum coming off this event," Milberger said.
The 'Dogs tee off the spring season on Feb. 15-16, 2014 in Stanford, Calif. at the Peg Barnard Invitational.
