FRESNO, Calif. --The Fresno State women's golf team sits in a tie for 10th place out of twelve teams at the Peg Barnard Invitational. The two-day tournament is held at the 6,051-yard, par-72 Stanford Golf Club.
The Bulldogs shot 26 over par, 310 in the first round of the Peg Barnard Invitational.
"As a team, we can do better on this golf course," head coach Angie Cates-Moore said. "We are comfortable on this golf course and the team has been working hard. We know that tomorrow will be a better day."
The `Dogs are lead by senior Shaylee Yano, who shot three over par, 74. Yano is tied for 21st place.
"Shaylee did a great job from recovering from a bit of a rocky start today," Cates-Moore said. "She made three birdies in her last five holes, which was absolutely outstanding. She shot 3-over par, which was a great comeback."
Bulldog Madchen Ly shot six over par, 77 and is tied for 39th place.
Hannah Sodersten shot seven shot over par, 78 and is tied for 45th place.
The Bulldogs return to action Sunday for the second round of the Peg Barnard Invitational with tee times set for 10:30 a.m. Pacific.
