Louisa Lies Named GoBulldogs.com Athlete of the Week

    March 23, 2010

    Louisa Lies

Bulldog sophomore Louisa Lies is just too talented to keep her off the medal podium. Lies won her first career college tournament at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Hawaii. Lies (66-76-74-216) went wire to wire after opening with a tournament low of 66. Her three round score of 216 is right up there with former winners of this event Anika Sorenstam of Arizona, who shot a 212 in 1992, and Natalie Gulbis, who carded a 216 in 2001. Lies was the only player to shoot par for the tournament, winning the event by five strokes. She had six birdies and just 24 putts in her opening round of bogey-free golf. Fresno State (305-304-301-910) placed fourth, just six strokes behind leader Rollins in the 17-team field.

    Also nominated:
    Amanda Cross (Lacrosse)
    Emma Andrews (Women's Basketball)
    Remi Boutillier (Men's Tennis)
    Laura Pola (Women's Tennis)
    Jordan Ribera (Baseball)
    Michelle Moses (Softball)
