Ly and Björgvinsdóttir Tied for First

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. -- After one day of competition at the Mountain West Championship, Madchen Ly and Guðrún Brá Björgvinsdóttir sit in a five-way tie for first place at one-under par, 71.

"This was a great exciting start," head coach Emily Milberger said. "Two great rounds for both Madchen and Gudrun. "They are in a good position as we move forward tomorrow into the second round. It was great to see them capitalizing on some great opportunities."

On the day, the duo each made three birdies. Trailing Ly and Björgvinsdóttir is Krysta Clark and Hannah Sodersten. Clark and Sodersten sit in a tie for 24th place at five-over par, 77.

The Bulldogs finished the day in fourth place at eight-over par, 296.

"Definitely a solid round all together and we are excited about our game plan this week," Milberger said. "We definitely stuck to it and we put ourselves in a great position as we move forward into the final two rounds and master the greens and get things rolling that way."
