FRESNO, Calif. -- Junior Madchen Ly was selected as an individual participant for the 2014 NCAA Division 1 Women's Golf Championships.

"I am so thrilled for Madchen on qualifying for the NCAA West Regional Championship," head coach Emily Milberger said. "This is such an exciting time for her as a player and for our program. She has worked so hard this year and she is extremely talented player."

The NCAA West Regional Championship will be hosted by University of Washington and will be held at Tumble Creek Club at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Washington.

"I couldn't be happier," Ly said. "I didn't finish the way I would have liked at Mountain West, but to be selected and represent my community, my team, and my college is an honor. This is what I've worked for all year and to see all my work pay off is exciting."

Ly is a Clovis, Calif. native and has consistently led the Bulldogs throughout the 2013-14 season with a 74.04 stroke average.

Ly competed in all nine tournaments of the 2013-14 season and finished in the top-20 in seven tournaments, top-10 in three, and top-five in two tournaments. Her best finish of the season occurred at the Fresno State Classic where she placed second.

This is the Bulldog's first individual NCAA appearance since 2007 where Jennifer Shipley finished the third round of the West Regional in a six-way tie for 28th place.

"It is awesome to be able to watch Madchen perform at the national level. The post season is a great opportunity to showcase all of her effort and reward her for all of her hard work this year. It is a true statement to a dedicated player and student-athlete."
