FRESNO, Calif. -- The women's golf head coach Emily Milberger announced the addition of Samantha Spencer to the Bulldog's roster after signing a financial aid agreement to play golf at Fresno State.
"I am thrilled to announce freshman Samantha Spencer as the newest member of the Bulldog golf family," Milberger said. "Samantha is a talented player with a wealth of elite competitive experiences that will undoubtedly enhance our program. Her fierce competitive nature and work ethic towards taking her game to the highest level possible will be a welcomed addition to our roster."
Spencer is from Georgetown, Ontario and will join the Bulldogs in the fall 2014. "I'm really excited to join the Fresno State Women's Golf team and become a part of the Bulldog family," Spencer said. "Fresno State has everything a student-athlete could want."
Spencer played varsity golf at Christ the King Secondary School from 2010-14 and was named Most Valuable Contributor.
Some of Spencer's competitive highlights include winning first place in the FCWT Notre Dame University, GAO Ontario Summer Games, and GHAC Championships. Spencer recorded a career low-68 at the GHAC Championships.
Other competitive highlights include placing second in the GAO Junior Girls Spring Classic, Golf Quebec Spring Open and CN Future Links Ontario as well as third in the GAO Juvenile Girls' Championship, RCGA Ontario Future Links, and WWGA National Jr. Championship.
Additionally, Spencer was chosen to be a member of Team Ontario for the 2013 Canada Summer Games. Most recently, Spencer competed in the Porter Cup Women's Amateur where she recorded 228 (74-75-79) among a field of collegiate and amateur players.
Samantha has an abundant amount of potential for excellence and success in her game and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for her," Milberger said.
