FRESNO, Calif. - With three tournaments under her belt, sophomore Jennifer Shipley has had a solid start in her second year as a Bulldog. After leading the Bulldog line-up in the first two tournaments, Shipley has shown both consistency and talent.

She tied for third at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic with a three round total of 1-under par (70-70-75 - 215) and tied for 11th at the Salbasgeon Suites Invitational (76-74-73 - 223) last month. In addition, Shipley, a Clovis, Calif. native, was named the Toyota/Gobulldogs.com Athlete of the Week for the week of September 11th and was named Septembers Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Month. Shipley has already received many honors for her success in the classroom as well as out on the course. Last year, Shipley received Academic All-WAC honors, was an Academic All-American, and was a member on the Dean's list.

In a recent Q & A session, Shipley was able to tell a little more about herself, her time spent as a student-athlete and her future.

Why did you pick Fresno State?
I liked the business school, the campus and Fresno State football .

When did you start playing golf?
I started hitting golf balls at a driving range at age three and played my first round of golf and my first tournament at age nine.

Do you have any special rituals you do before a tournament?
I always mark my golf ball with a smiley face.

If you weren't playing the sport you are now, which sport would you want to play?
Gymnastics or tennis.

What is something surprising most people don't know about you?
That I can talk like Donald Duck.

What is the best part of being a college athlete?
Competing at this level and playing with other people from different universities and places.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to go shopping, hang out with friends, go to movies and go to football games.

What is your most embarrassing sports moment?
I was in a tournament where it was raining hard and the wind was really blowing. A big gust of wind hit my umbrella from behind and I was blown over onto my stomach with my golf bag on my back. Between the umbrella, the wind, the clubs on my back and the wet grass, someone actually had to help me back up onto my feet.

Who are our favorite sports heroes?
Shaquille O'Neal and Tiger Woods.

What are your favorite movies?
Tremors and Legally Blonde.

What has changed since you came to Fresno State?
I have more confidence in both my golf game and my abilities to succeed in the classroom.

What do you want to do after you graduate?
I would like to go into professional golf or get my MBA and eventually become a CEO of a major corporation.

What is the highlight of your sports career?
Receiving All-WAC, Academic All-WAC and Academic All-American honors last year.

What is your favorite food?
Steak, macaroni and cheese, and crème brulee.

Most missed memory?
Going to dances with all my friends.

Favorite television shows?
Dancing with the Stars, The OC and Desperate Housewives.

What CD is in your player right now?

What is the last movie you watched?
Just Like Heaven with Reece Witherspoon. She is probably my favorite actress.

What is your dream job?
Being a professional golfer or a CEO.

What is your most valued possession?
My one-of-a-kind, custom-made David Edel putter. It even has a ladybug engraved into it.
