Julia Decker is entering her first year as an assistant lacrosse coach with Fresno State. She joins the Bulldogs from Hilbert College, where she was the head women's lacrosse coach from 2011-2012, where she helped build a first year varsity program from club status.
Prior to her year at Hilbert College, she was the assistant women's lacrosse coach at SUNY Geneseo, where she helped lead them to the SUNYAC Semi-Finals in 2010 and 2011. In her second year at Geneseo, Decker expanded her coaching background and was also the assistant coach for the field hockey program. The team went 18-2 and won the SUNYAC championship, making it to the 1st round of the NCAA tournament, which was the programs first NCAA appearance.
Decker played at the College at Brockport from 2005-2009, where her team won the ECAC Championships in 2008 and were finalists in 2007. She finished her college career as the Offensive player of the year in 2009 with 204 points (2nd on the college's all-time list) and 141 goals (3rd on the college's all-time list).
"I believe that Julia's passion for lacrosse and growing and developing the game will make her an enormous asset to not only our program, but the California lacrosse community," said Pausewang. "Her attacking skill set will fit into what we are trying to grow on from last year's success, and I'm excited for what she has to bring to the team."
The Penn Yan, NY native graduated with a bachelor degree in physical education from The College at Brockport in 2008.
