SAN DIEGO- In a hard fought battle, the Fresno State lacrosse team came up short against La Salle on Tuesday afternoon. A late second half comeback was not enough, and the `Dogs dropped game two of the season 14-8.
La Salle outscored the `Dogs in the first half of the game, 9-3.
Fresno State was able to make adjustments at halftime, holding La Salle to five goals in the second half with a great defensive effort from Freshman Sophia Aragon. Aragon forced two turnovers for the Explorers and picked up four ground balls.
"As a team we did awesome and really responded in the second half," said head coach Jessica Pausewang.
With an assist from Natale, Holly Cisnerosadded a goal in the team's effort.
Cisneros and Sara Weberowned the draw despite the lost, combining for 10 of the `Dogs 13 draw controls on the day. Cisneros tied the third all time single-game record with six draw controls.
Fresno State (1-1) continues its four game road streak traveling to the mile high city this weekend for two games. The Bulldogs play MPSF opponent Denver this Saturday, March 9 at 10 a.m. followed by Winthrop on Sunday at 10 a.m.
