FRESNO, Calif.- In its home opener the Fresno State women's lacrosse team came up short in a hard fought battle against California, 16-8.

Kara Concheck led the Bulldogs with three goals and two assists, finishing with five points on the day. Four others scored in the team effort, including freshman Anjelica Fuccillo with two goals. Fuccillo leads the team with 11 goals this season.

Marcy Levatino came up with four draw controls and leads the team with 16 this year.

Despite the score, the `Dogs did not give up and fought until the very end. Concheck scored two of her three goals of the day in the last five minutes of the game.

"We keep pushing it and we are so close in games," said head coach Jessica Pausewang. "It is really just us completing those 60 minutes that's going to make a difference."

After finishing their first third of the season with a 1-4 record, the Bulldogs now head to the East Coast to kick off their five game road streak starting with Albany on March 21 at 12 p.m. PT.
