STANFORD, Calif.- The Fresno State Lacrosse team kicked off its conference play against No. 13 Stanford on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs started the game strong though fell to the Cardinal 21-8.
Fresno State's Sara Weber scored the first goal of the match, giving the `Dogs momentum to stay even with Stanford for the first nine plus minutes. The match was tied at 4-4 until the Cardinal went on a four-goal run to give them an 8-4 advantage.
Marcy Levatino broke the streak with a goal with 8:40 left in the half. Stanford then went on another five-goal run to give them a 14-5 going into half.
The Cardinal went on to outscore the Bulldogs 7-3 in the second half.
In her tenth consecutive start at goalkeeper, Katie Wilbur had 12 saves on the day.
The `Dogs are set to return to Bulldog Stadium for Youth Day on Saturday at 1 p.m. when Fresno State (2-8) will host MPSF opponent San Diego State.
It's Youth Day in Bulldog Stadium! Bring your kids to game early for pregame face painting and tattoos. There will also be a postgame autograph session with the team.
