Bulldogs Close Out Regular Season
April 13, 2009
FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's lacrosse team played its final regular season game and final home on Monday afternoon against the University of Denver. The Bulldogs lost 18-1 to their fellow Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference member and now prepare for the conference tournament beginning April 23.
"Our fans showed up again today," Fresno State coach Sue Behme said." We are so appreciative of that. Our support is fantastic. We are getting better day by day. We forced a lot of turnovers but unfortunately we didn't focus on the details of taking care of the ball and that is what killed us. Our staff couldn't be more proud of these girls. We have been through a lot this year and we survived. Next week is a new season."
Fresno State just concluded a week where they play four games in six days. Starting on April 7, the Bulldogs played three games back East before returning to Fresno Sunday afternoon to prepare for Monday's contest.
The `Dogs forced 21 turnovers but proceeded to turn the ball over 30 times over the course of the game.
The Bulldogs only goal of the game came from Chelsea Davis at the 22:36 mark. Denver led 13-1 at halftime and scored five second half goals.
"All the adversity we faced on so many levels is the foundation of what we are going to build this program on," Behme said. "It is fantastic thinking about where we started and where we are now."
"Join the State - Fresno State"- The Fresno State women's lacrosse team concludes the 2009 at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament, April 23-26, at the University of Stanford.
