FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's lacrosse team hosted their alumni in a scrimmage in Bulldog Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The purpose of the game was to reunite the past with the present and to prepare the Bulldogs for their 2013 season.
"For us as a program we want to grow the game of lacrosse in the Fresno area," said Fresno State head coach Jessica Pausewang. "Bringing the alumni back gives us a chance to thank the people who first started the program and show them our growth as a team."
The Dog's defeated the alumni squad with a score of 15-2. Kara Concheck led the team with five goals. Holly Cisneros and Margaret Wolford had three each while Paula Badali added two goals and Lisa Barnaba picked up for one.
"The team looked ready, they have grown so much during the preseason already. This was a great test point to see how we have improved since the fall," said Pausewang. "I think a lot of girls rose up to the challenge to play other positions. We are looking forward to starting where we left off last year."
The Bulldogs head to Palo Alto, Calif. in two weeks to participate in the Stanford Play Day. The lacrosse team kicks off their 2013 season on the road playing Presbyterian in Los Angeles, Calif. on February 17, 2013.
