Bulldogs Host USC for Alumni Weekend
The Fresno State lacrosse team continues its three-game home stand this weekend as they host Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opponent USC for Alumni Night in Bulldog Stadium on Friday at 5 p.m. This is the Bulldogs first of six straight conference games. After facing the Trojans on Friday, Fresno State then host its alumni for their annual alumni game on Saturday at 2 p.m.
About the Trojans
USC (4-4, 2-0 MPSF) is coming off a 13-9 MPSF home win over San Diego State on March 26. After beginning season with seven home games, the Trojans hit the road and travel to face the Bulldogs for their first of five straight conference road games. Sophomore Caroline de Lyra leads USC this season with 21 points off of 10 goals and 11 assists while freshman Alex Morre has a team-high 14 goals. This will be only the second ever matchup of the two teams, when they faced last year for the first time the Trojans defeated the Bulldogs 19-1 in Los Angeles.
After facing USC on Friday, Fresno State is set to host its alumni in its annual alumni scrimmage in Bulldog Stadium on Saturday at 2 p.m. The 'Dogs welcome back five years of Fresno State lacrosse alumni to scrimmage the 2014 team midseason. In addition to the scrimmage on Saturday, the Bulldogs will be honoring all lacrosse alumni at halftime of the USC game on Friday and inviting them to post-game tailgate.
Concheck in the Record Books
Senior Kara Concheck leads the Bulldogs 14 goals and 16 points this season. Concheck currently holds the Fresno State all-time goal record with 58 career goals. With 66 career points, Concheck is just two points away from breaking the record that Natalie Harrington holds with 67.
The freshman Bulldog class has made a positive impact across the field in their first season. As a class they have combined for 19 goals and 21 points. Freshmen Allison Poust and Sarah Goetz lead the class with four goals each which ranks tied for fourth on the team. Fellow freshman Kyleigh Westgarth leads Fresno State with 24 draw controls this year while Caroline Dineen-Carlson is second on the team with 16 draw controls and five caused turnovers.
After battling the Trojans on March 28 for its fifth conference game of the year, Fresno State then continues MPSF play as they host St. Mary's April 10 for Senior Day to conclude home play for the season. The Bulldogs then finish regular season play with four road games at California, UC Davis, San Diego State and first year program Michigan.
