Nov. 25, 2013
FRESNO, Calif. --- Fresno State head lacrosse coach Jessica Pausewang announced on Monday afternoon that six student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent in the early signing period. Natalie Chaffin, Logan Eisinger, Eliana Galindo, Sydney Masaki, Nicole Ortlieb and Madison Steele will all be joining the Bulldogs for the 2014-15 season.
The 2014 recruiting class includes one goalkeeper, one attacker, two midfielders and two defenders. The new talent features four players from California, one from Florida as well as one player from Maryland.
Natalie Chaffin Del Mar, Calif. (Torrey Pines HS) Goalkeeper
2013 First Team All-League
"Natalie is a goalkeeper that comes up with monumental saves and we are looking forward to having her involved on our defense," Pausewang said. "She is a smart goalkeeper who will test our attacker's abilities and make their shooting more precise when we face opponents."
Logan Eisinger Vero Beach, Fla. (Vero Beach HS) Midfield
2011 JV Team MVP
"Logan comes from a fantastic high school program in Florida," Pausewang said. "Her style of play is aggressive and will bring an explosive element to our defense. Logan has the ability to challenge our attackers every day in practice and make our team overall stronger."
2011 All-League Second Team
"Eliana is a defender who has a tremendous ability to communicate and work with teammates," said Pausewang. "Having her become part of this team and our defensive unit will undoubtedly improve our team."
Sydney Masaki Poway, Calif. (Poway HS) Midfield
2012 All-League Honorable Mention
"Sydney has a tremendous presence on the field. Her ability to read the field is a strength that will help grow our team next year," Pauswang said. "Sydney will be a great addition to our midfield next year and will be a strong force on both ends of the field."
2011 High Scorer
"Nicole is a low attacker who will mesh with our new attacking style," said Pausewang. "She does a great job of elevating the players around her and working with teammates to get the ball in the back of the net."
Madison Steele Pleasanton, Calif. (Amador Valley HS) Defense
2011, 2012, 2013 Scholar Athlete
"Madison has great height for a defender," said Pausewang. "We look forward to using her and growing our turnover percentage as a unit."
