FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer team opened the 2009 season on the road for the second year in a row. The `Dogs fell, 1-0, to San Diego State after 90 minutes of play.
The Aztecs scored early in the first half play. Hayley Marsh scored the lone goal for San Diego State from 25-yards out and Jessica Gordon was credited with the assist.
The Bulldogs got off four shots against San Diego State. Freshman Callie Hancock led the team with two shots against Aztec goalkeeper Aubree Southwick. Fellow freshman Vanessa Gonzalez and junior Megan Ashjian each fired off a shot.
Goalkeeper and Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, Kaitlyn Revel, had two saves. The Bulldogs had four saves in the first half and a total of five altogether. The Aztecs tallied 17 shots with six on goal.
The Bulldogs wrap up their first road trip on Sunday, Aug. 23 at Long Beach State.
