Bulldog Defense Tough Against UC Davis
Sept. 2, 2007
FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer team again showed it will have a stingy defense this year as they battled UC Davis (2-0) to a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation. But in the overtime period Dayna Dumont connected on a header in the 97th minute to give the Aggies the 1-0 victory over the Bulldogs (1-1).
"We played hard and battled," Fresno State coach State Steve Springthorpe said. "Unfortunately they finished and we didn't. We'll regroup and get ready for next week."
The game was evenly played all the way around as both teams attempted 11 shots. Of the 11 shots Fresno State attempted, Christina Gilbert, Amanda Reyes and Chelsea Davis combined for seven. Kaity Revel came up with four saves to keep the Bulldogs in the game.
The Bulldogs return to the field next Sunday for a 3:30 p.m. contest at Sacramento State.
"Join the State - Fresno State!" - The Fresno State Soccer team will be on the road for the next five games before returning home to Bulldog Stadium on Friday, September 28 against UTEP at 7 p.m. All kids who attended the Fresno State Soccer Summer Camp can wear their camp t-shirt for free admission to all regular season home games in 2007.
