FRESNO, Calif. ---The Fresno State soccer team fell 3-0 to Texas Friday night in Austin at the Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field. Next the Bulldogs will travel to Stillwater, Okla. to take on the No. 7/9 Cowgirls at 10 a.m. PT Sunday.

"Today Texas outclassed us in every aspect of the game," said head coach Brian Zwaschka. "It was another lesson from a top team. We will readdress the things we need to be better at and keep preparing for conference play."

The 'Dogs fell behind early when Texas senior Hannah Higgins scored from the top of the box in the far upper corner in the third minute to put the Longhorns on top 1-0. The 'Dogs dialed up two shots before the Longhorns were able to extend their lead to 2-0 off a header from a corner kick by freshman Lindsey Meyer.

Texas started the second half the same as the first by taking a 3-0 lead in the 46th minute when freshman Kelsey Shimmick put the ball in the back of the net. Fresno State had more opportunities in the second half to score having five shots and a corner kick but the 'Dogs were unable to capitalize.

The Bulldogs will next play at home in Bulldog Stadium on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. against CSU Bakersfield followed by a match up at home against Cal Poly on Sept. 23 at 1 p.m.
