RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Senior defender Lauren Lindstrom led the Fresno State women's soccer team to a 1-0 overtime win over UC Riverside in the 98th minute Friday night.

Scoring their third straight victory, the 'Dogs (3-3) finished strong to win their second consecutive overtime match.

"I just want to congratulate the team for really fighting through against a good UC Riverside team," said Fresno State head coach Brian Zwaschka. "They were organized and had a clear game plan and made it difficult for us, but we stayed equally organized and figured some things out that were working for us and capitalized on them. In the end it made the difference."

In a tightly matched back and forth battle UC Riverside led Fresno State in shots (18-14) through the first 90 minutes of play.

After ending regulation with a score of 0-0 the Bulldogs went into overtime play for the third time this year against the Highlanders. In the 98th minute Lindstrom finished with a header of a corner kick from senior Shonice Myers to win the game 1-0.

In a solid defensive effort the Bulldogs claimed their second shutout of the year. Junior goal keeper Katie DeVault recorded seven saves off UC Riverside's 19 shots, one of which came in crucial overtime play.

Fresno State returns to Bulldog Stadium this Sunday, Sept. 15 to take on Cal State Northridge at 1p.m.
