FRESNO, Calif. ---The Fresno State soccer team fell 1-0 to UNLV on Senior Night Saturday evening in Bulldog Stadium. Though the regular season is over, the 'Dogs will begin the Mountain West tournament on Oct. 31 in San Diego.

"It's really a special night for our seniors to be honored," said head coach Brian Zwaschka. "I know that our girls definitely played their hearts out for the seniors. UNLV is a very good team and credit to them for pulling out the victory."

Prior to the start of the game, the Bulldogs honored their two seniors, Vanessa Gonzalez and Callie Hancock, along with their families.

"I want to say thanks to my friends, my family, and especially to my teammates for always supporting me through the thick and thin, and the good times and bad times," said Gonzalez. "I've built friendships that will be everlasting after this."

"Thanking just the support of my family and close friends and obviously teammates," Hancock said. "We've been through a lot together and its just nice to be surrounded by people that you know have your back."

In game action, the first half saw much back and forth play with neither team able to find a goal. The 'Dogs had eight shots in the first half along with one saves.

In the second half, the Rebels found a way to capitalize on seven shots when Jenn Wolfe crossed the ball from the left side over the Bulldog defense to find Susie Bernal who put the ball in the back of the net.

The Bulldogs will now begin action in their first ever Mountain West Tournament. The tournament begins on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

"There isn't a game that we haven't been in," said Zwaschka on moving into the tournament. "I know we haven't had the results but we know that we can play with anybody. The reality is that in an elimination situation you've got everything to play for. We are just going to go for it."

"We are excited about it(MW tournament)," said the two seniors. "We love being the underdog. We have a lot to prove."
